This charming reboot is better than the original and earned a rare perfect score. It features a multigenerational Cuban family dealing with timely, relevant issues and has something for everyone.

 

Alias Grace Poster Alias Grace – 8.5

Based on the 1996 Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, this Netflix original follows the story of Grace, a convicted murderess who may be innocent.

 

GLOW Poster GLOW – 7.5

This Netflix original follows a rag tag group of actresses who are cast to star on GLOW:  Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling.

 

One Mississippi Poster One Mississippi – 8

This sleeper features fearless comedian Tig Notaro in a semi-autobiographical role. Watch as she returns to her hometown in Mississippi and discovers where she fits in her old life.

 

TELEVISION

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Poster Crazy Ex-Girlfriend – 9

A feminist musical, this one follows Rebecca Bunch as she moves from New York to West Covina to follow her ex-boyfriend. This show is as cringe-worthy as it is binge-worthy.

 

Supergirl Poster Supergirl – 7

Kara Danvers, Superman’s cousin, decides to embrace her powers and make a reputation for herself in this action-packed CW show.

 

Better Things Poster Better Things – 8.5

Another semi-autobiographical show, this one features Pamela Adlon who, like her character, is divorced and raising three daughters while navigating work as an actor. Adlon also writes and directs the show.

 

Parks and Recreation Poster Parks and Recreation – 7

A workplace comedy highlighting the importance of working hard at work worth doing, with people you love. Amy Poehler is the irrepressible and inspirational Leslie Knope.
